Holistic health care- Mitochondria Are the Hub of Energy Production Our bodies rely on energy to make it through the day. We derive our energy from sources such as liquids and foods. Our special machine, or body, turns these resources into an energy that is easily used in many different ways. When we honor this approach we can create marvelous results. The main way the body converts energy is by way of glucose. Glucose is created when the body digests food and water. The energy is stored in cells and the mitochondria’s job is to utilize that energy for daily tasks that we need to do. Supporting the ways of care and realizing that the mitochondria plays such a vital role in our lives, it is best if we understand how it works; even if it is just at a surface level. Glycosis is the process by which glucose (sugar) is burned. Before they get to this point, they have to go through a very elaborate and detailed process which is all located within the mitochondria. When we do not go through these processes like we need to, problems arise. When we ignore the holistic health care approach and forget to listen to the messages our body give us, then we create some of these problems, which is fairly common, is chronic fatigue syndrome. The mitochondrion is an organelle and is present in all living cells with a few exceptions. They are like little energy houses and often referred to as he “powerhouse” or a cell. The setup of this organelle is like a matrix which consists of membranes and an inner core. The outer covering is made up of lipids (fat) which account for roughly 50% of its composition. The rest of the outer covering consists of enzymes which help the body get rid of excess stress hormones. Within the inner core you will find a mixture of fat (roughly 20%) and protein (roughly 80%). The energy enzyme holds this spot and is called ATPase. This is the enzyme that converts ATP into ADP and one phosphate ion. During this process, it is releasing energy. If this did not occur, there are many different reactions within your body that could not chemically take place. This is why living things are made with mitochondria’s hence it is important to utilize the holistic health care approach. Each living organism has a different number of mitochondria in them but they are all there for the same reason; to make sure energy conversion takes place. Depending on where the cells are located within the body will determine how many mitochondria it is allotted. For instance, the cells within the brain as well as the heart muscle, eye and skeletal muscles will have a large number of mitochondria in them do to the fact that they provide many functions throughout our daily life. We rely on them constantly and hence is essential to use the holistic health care approach. Cells such as skin cells do not utilize much energy in order to carry out their functions so they require less mitochondria. This means that skin cells will only usually have about 100 mitochondria within each cell. The main cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is improper mitochondrial functions and by ignoring the holistic health care we make things worse. It is also the cause not only of chronic fatigue syndrome but also other illnesses revolving around fatigue. Poor functioning can be a result of a destroyed mitochondria as well as one that is not receiving enough energy processing sources. When we learn to listen to the language of our body and act upon by utilizing the holistic health care then we can support our body to function as it is suppose to do. Our body is designed to win hence it needs our support. Knowing the way the mitochondria works and the vital role it plays in our body can help us understand why we need certain nutrients and minerals. By implementing the holistic health care we can also help us prevent diseases and other ailments that come as a result of not taking proper care to nourish our bodies.
